DAY 17

Luke 6:46

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

Today’s devotional will be a gut punch! It will be one the Holy Spirit can use to reveal, heal, and empower you to take your relationship with Jesus to deeper waters. Jesus speaks these words to confront the gap between confession and obedience. He makes clear that verbal acknowledgment of His lordship must be matched by a life submitted to His teaching. Obedience is not optional for those who follow Christ; it is the natural expression of trust and love. This is the tough spot in our lives. If we measure our fruit, if we took inventory, does it look like Christ?

Now, this moment can turn sour real quick; the enemy will attempt to whisper shame and unworthiness into your identity. But I challenge you to speak against that voice in the name of Jesus Christ. Today is an opportunity to be honest with yourself and walk in freedom and life with Christ.

Throughout Scripture, obedience is portrayed not as legalism, but as the pathway to life. Jesus’ commands are not burdensome; they are invitations into freedom, clarity, and peace. To obey Christ is to trust that He knows the way better than we do. This is why righteousness is non-negotiable. Sin is also non-negotiable. But the key is to recognize that GRACE is abundant. Please read John 8:10-11 and reflect on the response Jesus has to her in her sin. THIS IS GRACE! THIS IS HOPE! He is saying these same things to you and me.

For the Church, Luke 6:46 calls for integrity and sincerity. We are not formed by words alone, but by faithful response to what Jesus has spoken. Today, identify one clear teaching of Jesus and intentionally practice obedience to it, trusting His wisdom.

Prayer Prompt toward Spirit-Led Transformation

Lord Jesus, teach me to obey You fully and honestly. Remove any disconnect between what I confess and how I live. Give me a heart that delights in doing Your will. Transform me as I walk in faithful obedience to You. Thank you for the grace you give, thank you for the price you paid while you were thinking of me.
