DAY 19

Matthew 7:24

“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them… built his house on the rock.”

Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount by emphasizing that obedience determines stability. Hearing His words without acting on them leads to collapse when pressure comes.

Obedience, however, establishes a foundation that endures storms and hardship.

This image speaks directly to beginnings. Foundations matter most before storms arrive. Jesus makes clear that faith is proven not by intention, but by action. Lives and churches built on obedience to Christ are resilient because they are anchored in truth. Storms are an expectation, but endurance through the storms comes through obedience to the Father.

For The Waters Edge, this passage is a call to intentional formation. We are not simply inspired by Jesus’ teaching; we are shaped by obedience to it. Today, reflect on where you are building your life and commit to obedience that strengthens your foundation in Christ.

Prayer Prompt to advance the Kingdom through Spirit-Led Transformation

Jesus, help me build my life on obedience to You. Strengthen my foundation through faithful action, not words alone. Shape the Water’s Edge to stand firm through every season. Advance Your Kingdom through lives fully surrendered to Your lordship. Start with mine, Jesus. Move in power and be glorified.
