Philippians 2:9
“For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name.”
The lordship of Jesus Christ stands at the center of the Christian faith. In Philippians 2, Paul describes how Jesus willingly humbled Himself, taking on human flesh, submitting to obedience, and enduring the cross. Because of this obedience, God exalted Him above all, declaring that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
To call Jesus “Lord” is not merely to affirm a title; it is to acknowledge rightful authority. Jesus is not one influence among many, He is supreme. His lordship extends over every area of life, not just spiritual moments or private belief. Scripture presents obedience to Jesus not as loss, but as alignment with truth and life.
;
For a church at the beginning, this truth establishes clarity and unity. We are not building around personalities, preferences, or agendas, but around the authority of Christ alone. He has brought things about, He has given vision, He has provided a location, He is moving! This is His church, and its sole purpose is to bring Him glory. Today, consciously acknowledge Jesus as Lord by submitting one specific area of your life fully to His authority.
Prayer Prompt to awaken Faith by Bold Action
Jesus, I confess that You alone are Lord. Align my heart with Your authority and remove anything that competes for first place. Teach me to obey You with humility and trust. Awaken my faith to follow You fully as You build Your church among us. Take me into deeper waters to trust You and to see You move. Thank You for being my King, thank You for ruling in my mind, my life, and Your church.
