Ephesians 4:7
“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.”
Paul reminds the Church that grace is not only the means of salvation, but also the means by which the Church is built. Every believer receives grace from Christ, not as a reward for maturity, but as a gift intended for service. This grace is expressed through spiritual gifts, callings, and capacities designed to strengthen the whole body.
Christ distributes gifts intentionally and purposefully. No one receives everything, and no one is left without something. The diversity of gifts reflects the wisdom of God, who forms unity not through sameness, but through interdependence. Each believer matters because each one carries a grace meant to bless others.
For a church at the beginning, this truth establishes both humility and responsibility. We are not spectators or consumers, but participants in what God is building. Practical application: today, thank God for the grace He has given you and ask Him to help you recognize how it contributes to the life of the church.
Prayer Prompt to be empowered by the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, thank You for the grace You have given me. Help me receive my gifts with humility and faith. Remove comparison and insecurity from my heart. Empower me to offer what You have given for the good of the whole body. Show me my purpose at The Water’s Edge. What is it that You want to do through me to build up Your church? Show me where to lead, show me how to serve, let me live like You while the Holy Spirit manifests through me.
