DAY 11

Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses…”

In our service this morning, we talked through the importance of depending on the Holy Spirit as we look to invite the people God is leading us to invite to His church at our opening on the 25th. Before His ascension, Jesus promised His disciples that they would not be left alone or unprepared. The Holy Spirit would come upon them, not only to comfort them, but to empower them for witness. This power was not for self-promotion or control, but for faithful testimony to what God had done through Christ.

The early Church did not begin with influence or resources, but with the Spirit’s power. Ordinary people were transformed into bold witnesses, not because of their own confidence, but because the Spirit worked through them. God’s mission advances through Spirit-empowered lives surrendered to His purposes.

For The Waters Edge, this passage reminds us that mission flows from empowerment, not ambition. God gives power so that His people may faithfully reflect Christ in word and deed. It was mentioned to me recently that cultivating a community that looks like Christ requires us to focus less on the appearance and more on the approach. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh and make you attentive to opportunities to reflect Christ to others, and to bring upon you a burden for who He wants in His church. We are praying that they are people who are unchurched and new people that we are learning need to encounter the King we serve.

Prayer Prompt to advance the Kingdom through Spirit-Led Transformation

Holy Spirit, fill me with Your power for faithful witness. Remove fear and replace it with boldness rooted in love. Shape my words and actions to reflect Jesus clearly. Advance Your Kingdom through my surrendered life as You build this church. Guide me toward unchurched people, and anoint me to testify to Who You are and the Gospel I have experienced.
